Home Brewing

Ian recalled how money was tight in the early days and he and Gill decided to do some home brewing. Well they bought all the gear and a lager home brew kit and set about making their first batch. Much to their delight it was really good when they tried it - but it may have been beginner's luck! The second batch was for Christmas so they followed exactly the same routine and waited for it to brew up. They tasted this batch and it was a bit watery and tasteless. A disaster! They didn't have the time or money to start again so Gill decided to put more sugar in it and hope for the best. Christmas came round and they decided to try a glass of the amber nectar. It was strong - very strong. In fact, Ian described it as 'real headbanger stuff'. That Christmas Marrie and Graham visited and the lager was offered to their guests. Graham took on the challenge of drinking this stuff with vigour. The dinner took a memorable turn when Graham collapsed into his soup due the strength of the home brew! It was then decided that the best thing to do was tip it away - but not before another family story was born!
