'Fascinator'

Well Gill, you and I discussed outfits on a number of occasions in the build up to the wedding in Australia, and it became apparent that wearing a hat at a beach wedding probably would not be a great idea. Would it stay on if it was very windy etc, etc. Anyway, the big trip came along and then the big day to which you turned up looking fabulous and wearing a 'fascinator' in your hair. You told us the story of how difficult it had been keeping this feathery item in one piece on the various flights before hand, and for some bizzare reason Peter and I took great delight in teasing you about it and always pronouning 'fascinator' in an Aussie accent. It just sounded funny to us! You and Ian then went on to New Zealand and the 'fascinator' was placed in Ian's shoe in one of the suitcases to keep it safe. Days later Ian was complaining of a sore foot when you discovered he had been walking around with the fascinator wedged at the bottom of his shoe for two days! Needless to say some harsh words were spoken but many laughs had about it since! I also feel this is an apt time to give you an update on Ian's progress with technology. It is very hard to believe that less than a month ago we were sat together and you were making fun of Ian jumping out of his skin if his mobile rang. Many laughs were had that day as we discussed the future and the plans that you had once you were through the operation and like we said 'had your life back'. Ian has just spent a few days with Peter and I and we have been giving him tutorials on the mobile phone. You would not believe the progress as he's now sending group texts to the children, taking photos and using the radio on his phone!!!! We have had some fun and I suppose it is these little things that help to keep us all going when we miss you so much. Peter has also finished your order of service and I have to say, it is of course the best one yet. Full of all the families memories and some beautiful words from Ian. I think you would be very proud and I just hope that it provides all the family and your friends with some comfort and some happy memories of what a truly wonderful person you were. Always in my thoughts Alison x
